Nevada lost 21,000 members of its work force from September to October, and that 1.5 percent decline in the Silver State’s labor base helped push unemployment statewide down for its first month-to-month decline since November 2005. … The latest numbers from the state Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation show a drop in joblessness, from 13.3 percent in September to 13 percent in October statewide. Unemployment in Las Vegas fell more dramatically, declining nearly a percentage point, from 13.9 percent to 13 percent.
