CASEVILLE, Mich. — A 7-year-old Michigan boy barefoot and in pajamas drove a car for 20 miles, sometimes hitting speeds of 50 mph, before finally slowing down and stopping with the help of authorities.

The Las Vegas housing market continues to lag other economic improvement as median prices declined in May and new-home sales remained at historically depressed levels. Home Builders Research reported 291 new-home sales in May, compared with 258 in the previous month and 506 in the same month a year ago. The median price dropped 1.8 percent from a year ago to $192,070.

Mitt Romney plans to skip a July 10 GOP presidential debate in Las Vegas, snubbing a conservative gathering and missing a chance to woo voters he will need to again win Nevada. The two-time White House contender plans to participate in six other debates this summer and fall, culminating with one Oct. 18 in Las Vegas that will be televised live by CNN.
