LIVERMORE, Calif. – Conrad Bain, who starred as the kindly white adoptive father of two young African-American brothers in the TV sitcom “Diff’rent Strokes,” has died.
The Nevada State Development Corp. said Tuesday that it refinanced more than 30 small business loans valued at $87.2 million last year, with the help of local banks. The federal refinance program, which ended in September, allowed businesses to refinance loans at interest rates as low as 4.29 percent.
Jim deProsse has been appointed administrator of the Nevada Housing Division beginning Jan. 22, the Nevada Department of Business and Industry announced Tuesday. He replaces former administrator Charles Horsey, who retired after 30 years of state service.
