Abuse of the elderly in Southern Nevada comes in many guises. Food deprivation. Physical harm inflicted by spouses or adult children. A lack of air conditioning in the midst of summer heat. “The number of elder abuse reports continues to increase slightly every year,” said Jill Berntson, social services chief for the state’s Aging and Disability Services Division for Elder Rights.
