DMV might need to clarify its staff on requirements

Ask Nevadans which government agency in the state typifies their impression of the classic dysfunctional bureaucracy, and hands down, the Department of Motor Vehicles stands either at the top of the list or close to it. Either way, the DMV has a questionable reputation.

Korin Wach of Cadette Girl Scout Troop 355 earned her Silver Award, the highest a Cadette Girl Scout can earn. With the help of her mentor, Troy Stratton, she built a pamphlet holder kiosk for the Clark County Wetlands Park. The kiosk took approximately six months and more than 50 hours and was finished in late January and installed at the park Feb. 7. The kiosk has three slots for pamphlets and a feature for the park to display maps, fliers and announcements. Korin is the daughter of Kayla Wach and granddaughter of Laurel Wach of Henderson. Her mother and grandmother are her Girl Scout leaders.

Washoe inmate, 60, dies while serving time for assault, robbery

A 60-year-old prisoner serving time for assault and robbery died Wednesday at the Regional Medical Facility at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center in Carson City, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections. Daniel Brumbach was committed from Washoe County on July 25, 2007.
