3 displaced in duplex fire near McCarran

Two men and one woman were displaced after a duplex fire near McCarran International Airport, officials say.

The fire started about 4:45 a.m. Monday in the 4800 block of Koval Lane, near Tropicana Avenue, according to a release from Clark County Fire Department. Koval Lane was closed near the intersection while officials investigated.

Arriving crews said two units of the single-story duplex were heavily involved in fire, the release said. The fire was extinguished in ten minutes.

A man attempted to assist by breaking a glass window of the duplex. He was taken to the hospital with cuts, as a result, the release said.

No other injuries were reported.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire. It caused $50,000 in damage.

Clark County Fire Department says it's important that fire witnesses don't become part of the incident. Breaking windows during a fire introduces oxygen to it, making it more intense.
