Arizona fire has grown to 6,780 acres, destroyed 11 structures

Eleven structures have been destroyed in a wildfire that has scorched an estimated 6,780 acres and prompted the evacuation of about 1,000 homes in northwest Arizona. It is not known how many of the destroyed structures in Mohave Valley were homes and how many were other types of buildings, Bureau of Land Management fire information officer Dolores Garcia said.

No one has been injured in the Willow Fire that started Saturday. Most of the residents who were told to evacuate were allowed to return to their homes Monday.

More than 200 ground personnel and apparatus including bulldozers and aircraft are working the fire that is 10 percent contained, Garcia said. The fire was fueled by strong winds and dense brush, she said.
