LETTERS: Wilcox should be hailed for his bravery

In response to Thomas Glennon’s letter, I’m sure the guns of Jerad and Amanda Miller were still hot from the murders of the two police officers (“Had Joseph Wilcox stopped Jerad Miller, he would have been a criminal, too,” June 28 Review-Journal). It was the same event. Joseph Wilcox acted in a way that could have conceivably saved the lives of other innocents, much more so than thinking two crazy people firing off guns after murdering two police officers weren’t going to harm anyone else.

Mr. Wilcox had a sense of bravery and duty that Mr. Glennon will never understand. Too many people did not act, which allowed this travesty to occur.

Wilcox merits admiration

To the editor:

Just when you think you’ve seen, heard and read about every kind of foolishness, along comes the letter from Thomas Glennon, calling the stand-up behavior of Joseph Wilcox in the CiCi’s/Wal-Mart tragedy “rash,” “impulsive” and potentially criminal (“Had Joseph Wilcox stopped Jerad Miller, he would have been a criminal, too,” June 28 Review-Journal).

Just as our Metro police officers do every day, Mr. Wilcox put his personal safety on hold to defend himself and every other person who was within range of those murderers. Mr. Glennon comes off as very ungrateful.
