Man hit and killed by train on Union Pacific track

A man who police said was homeless was hit and killed by a train Wednesday afternoon, Las Vegas police said.

Police went about 3:30 p.m. to the Union Pacific Railroad track under the Hacienda Avenue bridge, an industrial area near the intersection of Hacienda and Arville Street. They found the man’s body on the track.

Nearly three hours went by from the initial call to Las Vegas police before the train continued north again shortly after 6 p.m.

Union Pacific Railroad will investigate the death, police said.
