Sandoval names Julia Teska state budget director

CARSON CITY — Gov. Brian Sandoval has named a veteran in state finance as his new budget chief and director of the Department of Administration.

Julia Teska will replace Jeff Mohlenkamp who is retiring April 4 after nearly three decades in state government service.

Sandoval announced the Cabinet appointment Tuesday.

Teska is deputy superintendent at the Nevada Department of Education and has more than 20 years of government finance experience at the state and local levels.

Sandoval said her intimate knowledge of the state budget and experience in education and human services will be of great value to the state.

The governor’s office is already gathering input from state agencies as it begins preparing a two-year budget proposal that will be presented to the 2015 Legislature.
