Walsh seeks re-election to Clark County District Court

CARSON CITY — Clark County District Judge Jessie Walsh filed for re-election Thursday.

And Kristine Brewer became the third person to file for Family Court Department B. Incumbent Gloria O’Malley is not seeking re-election.

Walsh, who is in Department 10, would have filed early in the week but was stranded in the East because of flight cancellations caused by a winter storm.

She has been a district judge since 2003. In a recent survey of Clark County lawyers by the Review-Journal, just 42 percent said that Walsh should be retained in office.

Filing for this year’s elections began Monday for Nevada Supreme Court justices, district judges and justices of the peace races. People interested in these races can file through 5 p.m. Jan. 17. Other than four district judges who are retiring, Judge Steve Jones is the only Clark County district judge who has not yet filed for re-election.
