Prison inmate dies after fight with another inmate

A Nevada inmate died Thursday after nearly three weeks in the hospital.

Daniel Ruiz, 36, was taken to Valley Hospital after a fight with another inmate on Feb. 28. An investigation will be conducted to determine if criminal charges will be filed, according to the Nevada Department of Corrections.

Ruiz began serving concurrent sentences on charges of attempted lewdness with a minor in 2011. He faced up to 12 years behind bars.
