Firefighters honored for helping newborn

The City Council recognized Las Vegas firefighters Wednesday for helping a newborn baby survive.

Units from Fire Station 8 arrived at a woman’s home Aug. 2 just after she had given birth to find a newborn who was not breathing and did not have a heartbeat.

Responders began resuscitation and used advanced life support techniques as they took the newborn to Sunrise Hospital’s Pediatric Emergency Room. The baby was revived and is now healthy.

Capt. Eric Littmann and engineer Rob Lawrence were honored in the ceremony as well as paramedics Benjamin Kole and Michael Arquette and EMTs Frank Sams and Christopher Banks.
