■ HIGHLIGHTS: At Tucson, Ariz., the Padres (48-40) erupted for five runs in the second inning to erase a 1-0 deficit and added what would prove to be the winning run in the fourth on an RBI single by Gregorio Petit. ... Las Vegas (45-40) closed to within a run of the Padres in the ninth on Brandon Hicks’ solo home run, his sixth of the season. Zach Lutz also homered for the 51s, delivering a solo shot in the second inning. ... Brad Brach picked up the victory in relief, holding the 51s scoreless in two innings of work. ... Jacob deGrom started and lasted five innings for the 51s, giving up six earned runs on eight hits, and suffered the loss.
