Mets award Montero MVP for 51s

Las Vegas 51s pitcher Rafael Montero won the Sterling Award as the most valuable player from the New York Mets’ Triple-A team. Montero, a right-hander, had a 5-4 record in 16 starts and had a 3.05 ERA. He struck out 78 batters in 88.2 innings pitched in 2013.

The Mets issue the Sterling Award to each of their nine minor league affiliates.
