Volunteers to spruce up Spring Mountains

The Spring Mountains will receive some spring cleaning Saturday morning in preparation for the busy summer season.

Volunteers of GO Mt. Charleston will pick up litter in 10 different locations along Kyle and Lee canyons beginning at 9:30 a.m. Their hard work will be rewarded with an afternoon barbecue at the Sawmill Picnic Area in Lee Canyon.

The 2012 Spring Cleaning drew 200 volunteers who collected 2,200 pounds of debris, including cans, bottles, a car muffler, old tires and broken sleds.

GO Mt. Charleston programs are offered through a partnership between the U.S. Forest Service, the Great Basin Institute and the Southern Nevada Conservancy.
