Cowboy dies in Elko County ranching accident

LAMOILLE — A longtime cowboy is dead after being thrown from his horse at a ranch in Lamoille in Northern Nevada, according to the Elko County sheriff.

Authorities said 60-year-old Bill McKnight was killed Wednesday while working with cows.

Sheriff Jim Pitts said ranch hands performed CPR on McKnight until deputies and paramedics arrived. McKnight was pronounced dead at the scene.

Pitts told the Elko Daily Free Press that McKnight worked on Elko-area ranches for as long as he could remember.
