Nevada Department of Public Safety gets interim director

CARSON CITY — The Nevada Department of Public Safety has a new leader calling the shots on an interim basis.

Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Thursday that Jim Wright will take over as interim for the department effective Saturday.

Wright has been serving as the department’s deputy director since July 2011.

Before that, he was the chief of the Nevada State Fire Marshal Division. He also has similar experience in California.

The governor has named Jackie Muth to succeed Wright as the department’s new deputy director. Previously, she was the commander of the Department of Public Safety Office of Professional Responsibility Staff.
