Allegiant Air jet lands safely at McCarran after reporting hot engine

An Allegiant Air flight from Fargo, N.D. called in an emergency shortly before landing at McCarran International Airport on Monday.

The pilot of the McDonnell Douglas MD-83 twin-engine jet reported an extremely hot engine and high temperatures, prompting an emergency call that alerted the Clark County Fire Department, said McCarran spokeswoman Christine Crews.

The plane, carrying 145 passengers, landed at 4:12 p.m. without incident, Crews said.
