San Francisco’s 3-point barrage stuns BYU
PROVO, Utah — De’End Parker scored 16 of his 23 points in the second half, making all three of his 3-point attempts to fuel a San Francisco barrage, and the Dons rallied for a 99-87 victory over Brigham Young on Saturday.
San Francisco (11-13, 4-7 West Coast) made its final seven 3-point attempts and 9 of 10 in the second half to turn a 15-point deficit into a lead that climbed to 16 in the final minute.
Avry Holmes scored all of his 17 points in the final 7:03, going 3-for-3 on 3-pointers and 8-for-10 on free throws. Chris Adams also scored 17 for the Dons.
The Cougars (18-8, 8-4 West Coast) seemingly were coasting to a victory, leading 62-47 after Matt Carlino’s jumper with 14:25 remaining.
But with Parker and Holmes bombing away from the perimeter, San Francisco outscored Brigham Young 52-25 the rest of the way. Holmes’ 3-pointer with 5:56 remaining put the Dons ahead 75-72, and they led the rest of the way.
San Francisco finished 14-for-23 from behind the arc and avenged an 80-76 home loss to BYU on Jan. 5.
Brock Zylstra had 18 points to lead the Cougars, and conference scoring leader Tyler Haws scored 16.
