Suspect in rape near Strip arrested in California

A man accused of raping a 22-year-old woman in September has been arrested in California according to the Salinas Police Department.

Rosendo Bravo Lopez, 24, of Salinas, Calif., is being charged with sexual assault, coercion and battery with intent to commit sexual assault.

The victim was assaulted Sept. 1 near the 3000 block of Joe W. Brown Drive while walking back to her hotel room near Las Vegas Boulevard, according to Las Vegas police.

Security found the victim running down a street barefoot and yelling for help.

The suspect was captured on video fleeing in the opposite direction.

Detectives also collected surveillance footage of the suspect walking in front of the Riviera before the assault.

Las Vegas detectives identified Lopez as the suspect on Dec. 18. Arrest warrants were issued on Dec. 21.

Lopez is being detained in the Monterey County Jail in California where he awaits extradition to Nevada.
