Henderson City Council amends Union Village agreement with developer

The Henderson City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to amend its land purchase agreement with the developer of Union Village, extending the escrow closing date by two months.

City Manager Jacob Snow said he believes all parties are working in good faith to finalize what he called a "complex agreement."

The council approved an agreement with the developer, Union Village LLC, in June 2011. The deal calls for the city to sell 150.7 acres near U.S. Highway 95 and Galleria Drive for $11.6 million.

"We're not going to sell them the land until they have a signed agreement with someone to be the primary tenant," Snow said last week.

The $1.5 billion project on a total of 228 acres is being billed as the first integrated health village in the world. The developer has reportedly been involved in negotiations with Dignity Health, formerly known as Catholic Healthcare West, which owns the two St. Rose Dominican hospitals in Henderson.

Tuesday's action by the City Council extends the escrow closing date to Jan. 13. The council approved a development agreement for Union Village in September.
