Arizona man dies in weather-related traffic crash

KINGMAN, Ariz.- A northwest Arizona resident was killed in a weather-related traffic accident on Interstate 40 Sunday.

The Department of Public Safety said Jerome Anthony Schopen, 94, of Lake Havasu City, was fatally injured in the single-vehicle wreck at about 1:30 p.m. near Williams, west of Flagstaff.

Authorities said the Toyota SUV driven by Schopen's daughter, Jane Rita Schopen, 55, of Lake Havasu City, was going west when it hydroplaned and rolled during a heavy rainstorm.

Authorities said 89-year-old passenger Betty Schopen was hospitalized in Flagstaff.
