Four die in separate weekend crashes in Douglas County

RENO - Four people are dead after two separate car crashes in Douglas County over the weekend, the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Trooper Barb Stapleton said that officers believe alcohol was a factor in one crash on U.S. 395 south of Gardnerville that killed three people, the Reno Gazette-Journal reported.

Stapleton says a pickup truck crossed the center line of the highway near Leviathan Mine Road late Saturday night and hit another vehicle head on. The driver of the pickup and a driver and passenger in the other vehicle were all killed.

Stapleton says another driver was killed in a single vehicle accident on the U.S. 395 about five hours later after failing to negotiate a turn in Minden.

Authorities have not released the names of those involved.
