McCardle, McInerney qualify for U.S. Amateur

Las Vegan Eric McCardle won a U.S. Amateur qualifier on Tuesday at Boulder Creek Golf Course, carding rounds of 66-68 for an 8-under-par 134 total to claim a spot in the U.S. Amateur national championship from Aug. 13 to 19 at Cherry Hills Country Club in suburban Denver.

Former Coronado High School standout and reigning Class 4A state champion A.J. McInerney also advanced, taking second at 5-under 137.
