Beavan, Rodriguez lift Rainiers past 51s

Blake Beavan pitched six strong innings, and Luis Rodriguez had a home run and two RBIs to send the Tacoma Rainiers to a 4-1 victory over the 51s in a Pacific Coast League game Wednesday night in Tacoma, Wash.

Beavan (2-0) held Las Vegas (44-35) to one run on five hits and one walk. Rodriguez hit a two-out solo homer in the second inning to tie the score at 1 and a two-out RBI single in the fourth.

Vinnie Catricala stole home in the fourth as part of a double steal for the Rainiers (32-46). Their other run came on back-to-back fifth-inning doubles by Alex Liddi and Carlos Peguero.

Yan Gomes scored the 51s' lone run on Ricardo Nanita's second-inning groundout. Las Vegas failed to cash in on leadoff doubles by Jonathan Diaz in the third inning and Gomes in the fourth.

51s starter Bill Murphy (3-3) went 4 2/3 innings.
