Hechavarria, Gomes power 51s past Aces

The 51s rode home runs from Adeiny Hechavarria and Yan Gomes to an 8-7 Pacific Coast League victory over the host Reno Aces on Monday.

Trailing 4-1 entering the fourth inning, Las Vegas (10-15) got an RBI single from Ruben Gotay, and Hechavarria followed two batters later with a grand slam. The 51s put up another run in the fifth to make it 7-4 before Reno rallied with three runs in the bottom of the inning to tie it.

Gomes' one-out solo shot in the seventh proved to be the difference for the 51s, who won their fourth straight game. Gomes finished 3-for-5 with two runs scored, and Travis d'Arnaud was 3-for-5 with a run scored.

Reliever Ryota Igarashi got in and out of trouble in the ninth inning to get the save for Las Vegas. Igarashi gave up a leadoff single to Anthony Gose, who was then replaced by pinch runner Mark Reed.

Reed moved to second on Taylor Harbin's sacrifice bunt before Igarashi struck out Adam Eaton and Jake Elmore to end the game.

The two teams resume their series at 6:35 p.m. today.
