Washoe County sheriff cuts two graffiti positions

RENO -- Washoe County's sheriff worries taggers could make a comeback after budget cuts forced his office to eliminate two graffiti investigation positions.

Sheriff Michael Haley said his agency made the decision after analyzing funding approved by county commissioners.

The sheriff's support specialist who worked full time documenting graffiti incidents is being reassigned, and a deputy dedicated to investigating the reports and enforcing graffiti laws is being placed in the patrol division.
