Nevada nudist sentenced for lewdness with children

RENO -- A Sparks nudist has been sentenced to three consecutive life terms for sexually abusing young female relatives.

Travis Bowles will be eligible for parole after serving 30 years in prison under the sentence handed down March 2 in Washoe County District Court.

The Reno Gazette-Journal reported a jury found him guilty of six counts of lewdness with a child.

Among other allegations, the 47-year-old Bowles was accused of making 8- and 10-year-old girls touch him and each other.

Prosecutors said Bowles was home alone with the girls, and their mother did not believe their allegations against him.

They had been living as nudists for about a year, and the abuse had been ongoing for six months.

Bowles told investigators he was preparing the girls for the "real world."
