Magnitude-3.8 quake reported in western Nevada

HAWTHORNE -- The U.S. Geological Survey reports a shallow, magnitude-3.8 earthquake has struck eight miles from the small town of Hawthorne, in western Nevada.

The quake hit shortly after 7 p.m. Monday at a depth of about 7.5 miles.

The USGS says the temblor was centered 12 miles from Qualeys Camp, 18 miles from Wichman and 150 miles from Sacramento, Calif.

Several people have reported feeling the quake on the USGS website, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
