Voters can update registration online

Clark County voters can now update their registration information online with a Nevada driver's license or a Department of Motor Vehicles-issued ID.

The county website includes an online voter registration tab that redirects visitors to the secretary of state's website to update information.

Sensitive information, including driver's license and Social Security numbers, are protected by an online security system that transmits the data between the DMV and the county registrar of voters for validation.

Larry Lomax, the county's registrar of voters, said in a written statement that more than 200,000 people in the election database have addresses that are no longer current.

The new online system allows registered voters to update their addresses or change political parties. The system will notify the voter that the information was successfully updated, and a new voter registration card will be mailed out within a few days.
