Gaels’ Muhammad picked for all-star squad

Bishop Gorman senior Shabazz Muhammad has been named to the roster of the 2012 Jordan Brand Classic, which will be played April 14 in Charlotte, N.C.

Muhammad, a 6-foot-6-inch swingman who is rated the No. 1 prospect in the nation by ESPNU, joins Findlay Prep seniors Anthony Bennett and Brandon Ashley on the West squad.

The 11th annual all-star game will be televised live on ESPN at 4 p.m.

■ SIGNINGS -- Gorman girls soccer senior standout Mia Moore signed with Loyola Marymount on Wednesday.

Also, two local junior college transfers signed to play football at Football Championship Subdivision schools. Former Gorman defensive lineman Mike Hutchings will transfer from Feather River College (Calif.) to Duquesne, and former Silverado offensive lineman Matt Hollen will transfer from Victor Valley College (Calif.) to Portland State.
