Olekaibe’s 28 points not enough as Boise State beats Fresno State

BOISE, Idaho -- Ryan Watkins had 18 points and a career-best 11 rebounds for his first double-double to lead Boise State to a 70-63 victory over Fresno State on Monday night.
Anthony Drmic added 14 points for the Broncos, who snapped a two-game slide.
Kevin Olekaibe, a former Cimarron-Memorial standout, scored a season-high 28 points for the Bulldogs (4-8), who suffered their fourth consecutive defeat.
Watkins had nine of his 11 rebounds on the offensive end as Boise State (9-3) improved to 9-0 at home.
Boise State led 59-56 before Thomas Bropleh hit a 3-pointer to give the Broncos a six-point lead with 2:41 remaining. Westly Perryman later stole the ball from Olekaibe and scored to make it 65-58 with 53.5 seconds left.
■ Denver 57, Wyoming 46 -- At Denver, Chase Hallam scored a season-high 21 points as the Pioneers (9-2) ended the Cowboys' nine-game winning streak.
Leonard Washington had 18 points and nine rebounds for Wyoming (11-2). Luke Martinez, the Cowboys' top threat, was held to five points on 1-for-12 shooting.
■ Southern California 83, Texas Christian 59 -- At Los Angeles, Maurice Jones scored 25 points, and the Trojans (5-7) beat the Horned Frogs (7-4).
Dewayne Dedmon scored 14 points for USC, which was averaging 54.2 points per game. Valley High product Hank Thorns had 12 points to lead TCU.
■ Colorado State 85, Texas Southern 61 -- At Fort Collins, Colo., Wes Eikmeier scored 25 points to lead the Rams (6-4) over the Tigers (1-8). Dorian Green added 15 points for Colorado State.
■ San Diego State 80, UC Riverside 55 -- At San Diego, James Rahon scored 19 points, and Chase Tapley added 17 points to lead the Aztecs (10-2) past the Highlanders (4-7).
