2nd District candidates’ Reno debate to be broadcast

CARSON CITY -- The third and final debate between the 2nd Congressional District candidates will be broadcast live from Reno on public television KLVX-Channel 10 in Las Vegas at 6 p.m. today.

Democrat Kate Marshall will square off against Republican Mark Amodei in the debate, sponsored by the Reno Gazette-Journal and public TV and radio in Reno. Independent Helmuth Lehmann and Independent American Party candidate Tim Fasano also will participate.

The four are vying for the seat held by Dean Heller before he was appointed in May to replace John Ensign in the U.S. Senate. The special election will be held Sept. 13, but early voting begins Saturday. Traditionally, more than half of the voters vote early.
