Sunny’ and two other funny shows renewed by FX

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- The FX network is picking up two more seasons of its veteran comedy "It's Always Funny in Philadelphia."

FX president John Landgraf announced Saturday that the series, about slackers running a Philadelphia bar, will be back for an eighth and ninth season, with an option for a 10th season. This makes "Sunny" the longest-running live-action comedy in basic cable history, Landgraf said.

"Sunny" stars Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, Glenn Howerton and Danny DeVito.

The series will begin airing its seventh season on Sept 15.

FX is also renewing "Louie," starring standup comic Louis C.K., for a third season, and its new comedy, "Wilfred," about a man and his human dog, for a second season.

The announcements were made at the conference of the Television Critics Association.
