Another 51s’ rally comes up short in 7-6 loss at Salt Lake

For the second night in a row, the 51s spotted the Salt Lake Bees a big lead. And for the second night in a row, a Las Vegas rally came up just short, as the 51s lost to the Bees 7-6 Tuesday at Salt Lake City.

Las Vegas, which battled back from a 10-3 ninth-inning deficit only to lose 10-9 on Monday, fell behind 7-2 on Tuesday after Salt Lake scored six runs in the fourth inning.

The 51s chipped away with a run in the fifth, two in the seventh and one in the eight and put the tying and go-ahead runners on base in the ninth before Horacio Ramirez retired Jason Lane on a fly ball to right field to end the game.

Ramon Vasquez had four hits for Las Vegas, and Ricardo Nanita, just recalled from Double-A New Hampshire, went 3-for-3 with a double, homer and three RBIs. Reidier Gonzalez (2-3) allowed nine hits in 3 2/3 innings and took the loss.
