ELKO -- Construction is expected to resume Monday on the 678-mile natural gas Ruby Pipeline project in portions of Northern Nevada.

Crews will resume work in portions of Elko, Humboldt and Washoe counties.

The shutdowns in the areas were taken to protect sage grouse breeding areas known as leks. The bird is listed as a candidate for protection under the Endangered Species Act.
