St. Jude's Ranch for Children held a ceremonial groundbreaking Friday for a $3.3 million independent living facility for young people who age out of foster care and might otherwise become homeless. Pictured from left to right are Jennifer Lewis, Christine Spadafor, Ken LoBene, Marybeth Scow, Sebastian Marquardt and Ralph Manning. The facility, which will consist of 15 studio apartments for 18 to 25 year old former foster children, is being built on McLeod Drive at Tropicana Avenue. Funding came from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and a grant from Clark County through HUD's Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
