Arizonan gets life sentences for molesting 11-year-old girl

A Kingman, Ariz., man convicted of molesting an 11-year-old girl was sentenced Tuesday to three consecutive life prison terms.

The punishment for Robert Monahan, 38, is mandatory under Arizona law for convictions of sexual conduct with a minor, classified as dangerous crimes against children.

Prosecutor Megan McCoy said Monahan began molesting the girl when she was 11, and the abuse escalated after the victim turned 12 in 2002.
