Driver succumbs to injuries

Kim Penrod, of Kingman, Ariz., who was critically injured in a Friday traffic accident died Monday at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Penrod's pickup was traveling east when it hit a guardrail on Interstate 40 in Kingman at 12:54 p.m, officials with the Arizona Department of Public Safety said. The Golden Valley Fire Department reported that Penrod, 58, suffered severe burns and other injuries after the vehicle caught fire. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
