Special interest groups make more Nevada buys
As Election Day approaches, special interest groups shelled out nearly $2 million on Tuesday to purchase additional airtime aimed at influencing the Nevada Senate race.
The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee spent $1,066,954 on advertising in opposition to Republican candidate Sharron Angle.
On the GOP side, the National Republican Senatorial Committee spent $350,101.
Crossroads Grassroots Policy Strategies, a group founded by Republican consultants Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie, spent $555,813 in opposition to Democrat Harry Reid.
The expenditures were included in “24 hour notice” reports filed with the Federal Elections Committee on Wednesday. There were no additional buys reported Thursday.
The television buys only add to the $5.2 million that outside organizations have spent in the state in the last three weeks.
