United Way president steps down

Dan Goulet, president and CEO of the United Way of Southern Nevada, has stepped down from the position.

The United Way gave no reason for his departure.

James J. Kropid will serve as interim president and chief executive officer while a national search for a replacement takes place.

Kropid was United Way's interim executive director in 2003 and is past chairman of the YMCA of Southern Nevada and past president of the Las Vegas Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America.

Goulet joined the United Way in 2002. Achievements during his tenure include the Fertitta Community Assistance Center, Kids and Cops, Project REACH and the award of the $20 million state of Nevada Child Care Grant, United Way said.

He increased the organization's annual campaign to $12.4 million in 2010, up from $9.5 million in 2004, the group said in a statement.
