Elderly woman struck, killed crossing street

A 74-year-old woman was killed Thursday morning after she was struck by a vehicle while crossing the street.

Las Vegas police said the woman, who was not identified, was crossing Flamingo Road in a marked crosswalk near Koval Lane at 1:27 a.m.

A witness told police he was driving east on Flamingo in the left travel lane when he noticed the woman crossing the street and stopped.

A 1999 Ford Explorer driven by Las Vegas resident Paul Davis was in the center lane and did not stop, striking the woman, police said.

The accident remains under investigation. This was the 80th fatal accident in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year.

The Clark County coroner's office will identify the woman.
