Firefighters get control of California wildfire

Authorities said a wildfire that started in San Bernardino County and spread to Riverside County quickly grew to 125 acres and briefly threatened homes before firefighters got a handle on it.

The Riverside County Fire Department said the Saturday blaze in Reche Canyon near Colton was 60 percent contained four hours after it broke out at about 1:30 p.m. and sent up a plume of smoke that could be seen throughout the inland region.

It was expected to be fully surrounded by 8 p.m. and there are no longer homes or buildings in danger.

Thirty engine companies, and six water-dropping aircraft were helping to battle the blaze.
