Reid on September jobless numbers
Sen. Harry Reid, reacting to news that Nevada's unemployment rate remained at 14.4 percent in September, said this in a statement:
“Even though the unemployment rate did not go up, we need to keep working together to help struggling families make ends meet. That is why I have made it a priority to develop a new clean energy economy in Nevada. By taking advantage of our abundance of clean energy resources we can create good-paying jobs that can’t be shipped overseas.
“In just the past two weeks Nevada has taken a big step forward in that effort. We broke ground on the north-south transmission line that is creating more than a thousand direct and indirect jobs. A-Power Energy Generation Systems opened their new manufacturing facility for LED solar panels and is putting 1,000 Nevadans to work. And a new solar panel program in Clark County has Nevadans working again as they install solar panels on churches and schools.
“These are just a few examples of the projects that are planned or already underway that are helping us to combat unemployment, strengthen our economy, and build a stronger future for Nevada.”
