Police: No plane crash near Moapa

A Las Vegas police official said that reports of a plane crashing near Moapa on Sunday afternoon were unfounded.

Police spokeswoman Officer Barbara Morgan said a plane crash had been reported near Glendale about 1:45 p.m., about 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas.

According to initial reports, which police said came from McCarran International Airport, the crash occurred near Interstate 15 North and mile marker 80.

However, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said the report did not come from McCarran and that he didn't know the source of the report.

A police helicopter combed the area but did not find any signs of a crash.

The search for the plane was called off, Morgan said.
