Third Henderson arson in two days causes $100,000 in damage to workshop
For the third time in two days, authorities on Saturday were investigating a suspicious structure fire in Henderson.
At 1:13 a.m., a passer-by called 911 to report a storage shed on fire at 241 Honeywood St. and then alerted the homeowner to evacuate.
The fire spread quickly to the attic of the house in the city's Green Valley neighborhood and caused $100,000 in damage before crews from a fire truck, two rescue units and four fire engines could put it out.
"This one is very suspicious and is being investigated as arson," Battalion Chief Jeff Lytle said Saturday.
Henderson firefighters were kept busy early Friday battling a pair of suspicious fires near the intersection of Candelaria Drive and Fletcher Road, about eight miles southwest of where the shed, described as a workshop, burned Saturday.
"At this time we're not completely sure if it is linked or not," Lytle said.
No one was injured in any of the three blazes. The two on Friday occurred in abandoned homes, causing damage of $5,000 and $50,000, respectively.
