Pahrump man dies in Lake Mohave

The body of an 18-year-old Pahrump man was recovered Saturday night from waters near Placer Cove on Lake Mohave, the National Park Service said Sunday.

The deceased man's identity was not released by authorities.

The park service said the man was diving off cliffs with friends from a height of about 30 feet. Witnesses said the man jumped from a cliff and a friend followed, landing on top of him. The friend said he saw the man start to sink.

The park service said three other friends jumped in to attempt a rescue, but the victim was sinking too fast. Divers recovered the body about 10:30 p.m. in about 50 feet of water.
