Callville Bay hosting events for Marina Day

Lake Mead's Callville Bay Marina will mark National Marina Day with events Saturday that coincide with Free Fishing Day in Nevada and highlight boating safety.

Sponsored by Forever Resorts, the marina, off the lake's North Shore Road, will hold drawings for a seven-day houseboat trip and a three-day stay at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., including air fare.

The events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., including a bass fishing tournament and a children's casting contest, will provide a platform for Nevada's Department of Wildlife to heighten awareness about boating safety and the state's fisheries. No license will be required to catch fish, organizers said.

Prizes will be presented by Lake Mead Cruises and Black Canyon River Adventures.

The casting contest is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with bass tournament weigh-in at 2 p.m.

The National Park Service will hold Junior Ranger sign-ups with free hot dogs offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Callville Bay Resort and Marina was one of 10 nationwide chosen by the Association of Marina Industries to celebrate National Marina Day.
