School Board invites search firms to event

The Clark County School Board has decided to invite three search firms to a superintendent search workshop at 8 a.m. Tuesday.

The firms invited are Ray and Associates of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; McPherson and Jacobson of Omaha, Neb., and Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates of Glenview, Ill.

The School Board is seeking a firm to assist in finding candidates capable of leading the nation's fifth-largest public school system.

Hazard, Young, Attea and Associates has conducted searches for the Clark County School District in the past. It coordinated a flawed 1999 superintendent search for the district and a 2000 search that led to the hire of Superintendent Carlos Garcia, who left the district in 2005. He was succeeded by Superintendent Walt Rulffes, who has announced he will not seek to renew his contract, which expires in August.
